Sheriff thanks community for cooperation

On behalf of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, I want to personally thank our community for their incredible cooperation, support and understanding during these extremely difficult past few weeks of the Beaver Creek Fire.
Making the decision to remove people from their homes is not a decision we take lightly, but as the sheriff it is my responsibility to ensure for the safe evacuation of our citizens. Our professional and dedicated law enforcement and fire-fighting teams have once again saved our homes and our community, but we could not have saved lives without the willingness of our citizens to comply with these urgent orders of evacuation and the outstanding inter-agency collaboration.
Thank you for the overwhelming support of our efforts for our officers in the field, our staff on the 24-hour information phone lines and our communication through our website. We offer our sincere appreciation for the generous donations of bandanas for our emergency personnel and your impressive support to those who worked so hard to save our community.
Blaine County has been severely tested by the fire, but the true strength of our community’s character has shown through brightly.
Gene D. Ramsey
Blaine County sheriff
