Mountain Rides bus service almost normal

Green Route not running to evacuated Meadows area

Mountain Rides Transportation Authority resumed normal bus operations on Monday with the exception of the Green Route, which services the Meadows area south of Ketchum and remained under a mandatory evacuation order on Tuesday.
Executive Director Jason Miller said that the Blue Route and Red Route, which service the Ketchum, Sun Valley, Warm Springs and Elkhorn areas, were running normal schedules as of Monday. Also, the Hailey Circular Route, serving Hailey, was running as usual, as was the Valley Route connecting the north and south valley.

We just encourage folks to use us at this time to help the fire crews work
and keep as many vehicles as we can off the road.”

Mountain Rides maintained service throughout last weekend, although some runs were discontinued and service was not as reliable as usual. The number of passengers was noticeably lower than usual over the weekend but started to pick up on Monday and Tuesday.
“Today is the first day we were back to normal again,” Miller said Monday. “It seems to be stabilizing somewhat. We see more people coming back and it’s important for us to be serving the people who need us.
“We just encourage folks to use us at this time to help the fire crews work and keep as many vehicles as we can off the road.”
Heavy traffic congestion in Ketchum Friday, after pre-evacuation orders were issued for the cities of Ketchum and Sun Valley, caused Mountain Rides to adjust its bus schedule. Miller walked from bus stop to bus stop in Ketchum advising passengers where to catch a bus because some of the regular Blue Route buses became trapped in heavy traffic.
