Seats still available for Huey Lewis concert

?Sports? tour coming to Sun Valley

     Tickets are still available for the Huey Lewis & The News concert Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Sun Valley Pavilion that benefits the Killebrew-Thompson Memorial golf tourney.

     Lewis is bringing his band to Sun Valley for the second time in three years to help raise funds for leukemia and cancer research.

     The band’s appearance is part of the 30thanniversary concert tour of their nine-track “Sports” album released in Sept. 1983 that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 ranking.

     It was the band’s third album featuring tracks “The Heart of Rock and Roll,” and “Heart and Soul.” Four singles from “Sports” made the Billboard Hot 100 top-ten list.

     Lewis, 63, born in New York City and raised in Marin County, Ca., does lead vocals and plays harmonica for the band. He lives in Stevensville, Mt. near Missoula and attended Cornell University in the 1960s.

     The band has performed at many cancer-related benefit concerts and has a long association with the northern California Camp Okizu, near Novato, that is designed for children with cancer.

     Among the band’s other well-known songs are “The Power of Love” and “Hard at Play.” Their first recording as a band was in 1980.

     Lewis & The News will be performing Aug. 18 at Westhampton Beach, N.Y., then will come to Sun Valley and return to the East Coast for a concert at Peachtree City, Ga. on Friday, Aug. 23.

     Reserved seating tickets from $54 to $255 (premium) are being sold at Sun Valley Recreation Center in Sun Valley Village, and also online at sunvalley.ticketfly.com or by calling 622-2135.

     Gates open at 7 p.m. Premium ticket buyers can attend a cocktail reception with Lewis from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday on the Pavilion Terrace.
