Marketing Alliance gets co-chairmen

Albertson and Rumpf to head organization

The Sun Valley Marketing Alliance board has elected Marty Albertson, who represents Ketchum on the board, and Chuck Rumpf, who represents Sun Valley, to serve as the board’s co-chairmen.

The Marketing Alliance announced the new leadership in a news release May 30, saying the appointments became effective immediately. The appointments follow the resignation of former Board Chairman Jake Peters, Ketchum’s former representative, who is leaving the board to pursue other business opportunities.

“The co-chair position is a great statement of the intended alliance between Sun Valley and Ketchum and I look forward to working with both Marty and Chuck in this capacity,” said President Arlene Schieven. “I would also like to thank Jake Peters for his years of contribution to the organization.”

The cities partnered in 2010 to create and fund the Marketing Alliance, which promotes the Sun Valley area outside of Blaine County. However, the cities have not remained aligned in their view of how the organization has performed or how much funding it deserves. Ketchum has increased its support of the organization while Sun Valley has decreased it.

“Mr. Albertson and Mr. Rumpf both have extensive business backgrounds and are eager to support and further encourage marketing efforts to benefit the Sun Valley area,” the Marketing Alliance stated. “One of Marty’s goals is to garner community support around the strategic goals of long-term brand recognition and short-term visitor traffic generation. Similarly, Chuck would like to see a long-term funding plan in place for the organization in the near future.”
