Ketchum Swears In 7 New Firefighters

Ketchum Mayor Randy Hall on Monday leads seven new paid, on-call firefighters in reciting their oaths of duty at Ketchum City Hall. From left to right are: Hall, Ketchum Fire Chief Mike Elle, firefighters Jason Buck, Cameron Lloyd, Parker Portash, Anja Sundali, Mark Thompson, Ashley Yagla and Paul Yelda. According to firefighter Senior Lt./Paramedic Tory Frank, the new firefighters took part this spring in a recently established 164-hour Fire Academy with cadets from other fire departments in the county. She said the new firefighters are trained to the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress standard of Fire Fighter I and will test for their certification this fall. “Thank you so much for doing what you do,” said Hall during the ceremony, followed by an ovation from members of the public who were present. “It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity individually and it’s just great service to your community.”
