Gates golf aims for Father’s Day treat

June 16 at Sun Valley

    The 16th annual Chuck Gates Memorial golf tourna-ment to raise money for junior golf in the valley has been scheduled for Father’s Day—Sunday, June 16 at Sun Valley Golf Course with a best-ball scramble format.
    This year’s tournament is dedicated to the memory of Rafer Lutz, a local junior golfer who went on to play in college.
    Cost for 18 holes of golf, cart, buffet and tee prizes is $150 per person or $85 for Sun Valley Club members. Raffle grand prize is a Taylor Made R-1 driver. Raffle tickets are avail-able beforehand from junior golfers at Atkinson Park.
    This year’s event includes for the fourth year the Chuck Gates Junior Putting Contest starting June 16 at 11 a.m. at Sun Valley Golf Course. It is free, all ages welcome. In addi-tion, there will be a long drive exhibition with Pat Woodbrey.
    A portion of tournament proceeds support the 10th an-nual Chuck Gates Junior golf tournament Friday, June 28 at Bigwood Golf Course.
