Shrine All-Star senior football game is Monday
The 36th annual North-South Shrine Senior All-Star football game is Monday, May 27 at Twin Falls High School. The eight-man high school game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the 11-man game at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person. Gates open at 4 p.m. Wood River High School football coach Kevin Stilling will be a coach, accompanied by new Wolverine freshman football coach Rhett Jones, a Minico High School product. Wood River senior lineman Chris Carnes is planning to compete in the game.
Girls on the Run results
Hundreds of runners enjoyed a bright May morning Saturday for the 10th annual Community 5-kilometer run/walk presented by the Girls on the Run organization and its sponsors.
The event featured a new, scenic course, starting as always at Hailey’s Lawrence Heagle Park but also winding through the Draper Preserve and across the new Bow Bridge and back through the Della View Subdivision.

· Top women: 1—Jena Greaser, 27, 19:12. 2—Amy Ando, 28, 20:52. 3—Julie Carney, 46, 21:05.
· Top female youth: 1—Emily Siegel, 14, 25:54.
· Top men: 1—Pedro Morales, 23, 16:23. 2—Josh Switzer, 29, 19:21. 3-Parker Jones, 18, 20:37.

Ketchum Coed Soccer League sign-ups are underway
Register for the 2013 Ketchum Coed Soccer League before Friday, May 31 at Sturtevants in Ketchum or online at ketchumcoed.com. Teams are forming so sign up today.
Men and women ages 18-and-over are welcome. The league is non-contact and open to all skill levels. Games are played Wednesday evenings from June 12-Aug. 14 on fields in Ketchum and Hailey. League fee is $49 per player. Add $20 to that fee if you sign up between June 1 and the cut-off deadline of June 5.
Middle school diamond sports wrapping up
The spring girls’ softball program is wrapping up at Hailey’s Wood River Middle School with final games today, Wednesday and Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. on the South Valley Sports Complex softball field (high school field) in Hailey.

Interested in participating in a summer softball program?
The Wood River Baseball and Softball Association (WRBSA) is holding a tryout session open to all girls ages 8-and-older on Tuesday, May 28 at 6 p.m. at the high school field. If there is enough interest, there will be a U-10 team this summer.
Likely summer teams are U-12 and U-14 playing in a league and also in tournaments. More details will be available at Tuesday’s tryouts.
· The middle school baseball teams coached by Lars Hovey (Gold Team) and Gunner Whitehead/Charlie Dunn (Green) are the top seeded teams in the six-team Babe Ruth League Tournament scheduled for next week.
Both local teams play semi-final games on Thursday, May 30 at 6 p.m.—Green playing at Hailey’s Founders Field vs. the winner of CED Twin Falls vs. Jerome Eye Center, and Wood River Gold at Hailey’s Nelson Field vs. the winner of Eastern Idaho vs. Jerome Rotary.
Championship game is Friday, May 31 at 6 p.m. at the higher-seeded surviving team.
Rusch, BCRD to offer Wheel Girls summer session
Sun Valley professional mountain biker Rebecca Rusch and the Blaine County Recreation District are again offering a six-week mountain bike clinic for girls in grades 7-12.
Rusch and local female riders will teach basic mountain bike skills, bike maintenance, trail etiquette, nutrition and fitness basics. The summer program is designed for girls who know how to ride a bike, and who want to gain the skills and confidence to ride bikes more frequently.
Cost is $125 and the club size is limited to 20 riders. Scholarships are available. Club rides will take place on Tuesdays from June 18–July 23 from 3-4:30 p.m.
Entry deadline Sunday for Sun Valley Half Marathon
The Wood River YMCA is presenting the ninth annual Sun Valley Half Marathon on Saturday, June 1 starting at 9 a.m. from the lawn near Sun Valley Pavilion. Last year there were 100 finishers at the 13.1-mile distance led by Joseph Gray, 28, in 1.14:50 and Shannon Deboer, 25, in 1.37:34.
This year’s courses are 13.1 miles, 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and 5k (3.1 miles). From May 20 through the final registration deadline of Sunday, May 26, fees are $80 half marathon, $60 for 10k and $50 for 5k. All race proceeds go to YMCA programming.Visit imathlete.com. Valley runners in Famous Idaho Potato 13.1-miler
Wood River Valley runners were among 1,362 runners completing Saturday’s 13.1-mile half marathon of the 35th annual Famous Idaho Potato Marathon event presented by the Idaho Potato Commission and Treasure Valley YMCA. There were 769 women and 593 men finishing led by Boise’s Scott Foley (1.08:16) and Sylvia Veal of Boise (1.23:14, 19th overall).
