Around Town

Get tickets for ‘Chasing Ice’
Tickets are on sale now for “Chasing Ice,” a film about the changing climate and its effects on the world’s glaciers of the world, for when the documentary comes to the Wood River Valley Thursday, May 23.
In the spring of 2005, acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog headed to the Arctic on a tricky assignment for National Geographic: to capture images to help tell the story of the Earth’s changing climate. Even with a scientific upbringing, Balog had been a skeptic about climate change. But that first trip north opened his eyes to the biggest story in human history and sparked a challenge within him that would put his career and his very well-being at risk.
The Wood River Land Trust and the Idaho Conservation League are hosting the film screening. Tickets can be purchased in Ketchum at Backwoods Mountain Sports, the Elephant’s Perch and the Idaho Conservation League office, or in Hailey at the Wood River Land Trust.
For more information, visit www.idahoconservation.org/Chasing-Ice, or call 726-7485.
They are $8 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under ($10 and $5 at the door).
The film will be shown at the nexStage Theater in Ketchum at 7 p.m.

Comedy night at the Sun Valley Brewery
Comedian Spencer James, who is likened to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. because his act mixes in dancing and singing with his humor, will appear at the Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey on Thursday, May 23.
James has appeared on Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime, XM/Sirius radio and can be previewed at www.thatguywiththetie.com.
Tickets are $10. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

The speaker will be Lt. Col. Reginald R. Reeves, U.S. Army (retired). A special guest will be Col. Christopher S. Sage, Commander, 366th Operations Group, Mountain Home Air Force Base.
Other features will include the laying of a wreath, singing of “The Star Spangled Banner” led by Sue Noel, and a special appearance by the men’s chorus A Few Good Men. In addition, there will be a fly-over by two World War II-vintage P-51 Mustangs from the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa.
