Galena trails or a battle with sheep?

Please do not derail the proposed SNRA expansion of the Galena trails project simply because of one individual vendetta against the sheep.
The Blaine County Recreation District and the SNRA have been partners for many years on great projects throughout this entire area. I have been fortunate enough to have participated in a number of those projects, and have been proud of every step we have taken, and especially pleased with the professional and comprehensive approach the SNRA has taken on each and every one of those projects.
Jon Marvel’s comments in  last week’s newspaper are largely incorrect on the facts of recreation, and sheep grazing. Work is done constantly to mitigate any conflicts with the various user groups on the SNRA.
The SNRA area ranger, Joby Timm, is serious about each and every step of this project, and along with his team they have examined all of the details that will lead to a magnificent recreational amenity for all to enjoy.
We have worked with the ranchers and the sheep industry for many successful years, and the key to a good relationship is communication, not confrontation.
Recreation is one, if not the most important industry in the state of Idaho, and I would humbly claim that our area is a leader in that field.  That effort has led to a viable economy here, and has often made this area a model for others to strive for throughout the country.
Without unnecessary distractions, this fantastic summer trail expansion plan will begin this summer, and your support is a vital part of that process.
