Bike path important to kids, commuters

    As a parent, I am ever grateful for the bike path as a main thoroughfare for our kids to safely get from one end of town to the other. The School District encourages use of the bike path as a means to get to and from school. Safe Routes to School has been committed to educating parents on the safest way to transport our kids from neighborhoods to school through active means instead of driving, promoting a healthy lifestyle for our children. These routes often link up with our wonderful bike path system.
    Whether walking, biking or boarding, the path is full of students before and after school hours. Not to mention skiing in the winter months. The bike path is a treasure for all of us in the community and a draw for tourists. I commute to work regularly on the bike path and would like to continue with this healthy alternative to driving for years to come. During my commute, I see first-hand areas of the bike path that are in desperate need of repair to ensure the safety of its users.
    Please join me in support of the two-year levy to reconstruct the bike path from Hulen Meadows to Bellevue and to ensure the safety of our students, commuters, recreationalists and out-of-town guests for the next 30 years.     Vote “yes” on the BCRD levy on May 21.
