Child injured in bicycle accident

Sheriff reports victim released from Boise hospital

An 8-year-old Blaine County boy was flown by emergency helicopter to a Boise hospital after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle last week at a trailer court south of Ketchum.
Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey identified the boy as Bryan Hernandez. He said the boy was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center following the accident on Friday, April 26. The accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. at the Country Chalet trailer court. Ramsey said Hernandez was struck by a 1997 Ford Expedition driven by Jessica Salinas, 19, who lives at the trailer court.
“She was getting off work and pulling into the trailer court,” Ramsey said. “There was a pickup there that had a rack on it and the boy pulled from behind it right in front of her.”
Ramsey said no citations were issued.
