Mary Ann Estep Zabala

After a short battle with leukemia, and her mother, Virginia, at her bedside, Mary Ann Estep Zabala, 65, a resident of Gooding, left us to join her departed husband, Marcos, in heaven on April 26, 2013.
Mary Ann was born in Gooding, Idaho, on Nov. 23, 1947, to George and Virginia Estep. She attended Gooding schools and graduated from Gooding High School in 1967. After high school, Mary Ann enrolled in beauty college in Boise where she received her degree in 1969. She began her career as a beautician in Gooding and had operated her business for the last 45 years.
Mary Ann was very dedicated to her business as a hairdresser, putting in long hours and long days in order to appease her customers. Mary Ann would even travel to the local nursing or assisted-living homes to do her clients’ hair.
She met her husband Marcos while in Gooding. They were married on Oct. 3, 1981, and resided in their home on Nevada Street in Gooding.
Mary Ann’s greatest joys were getting firewood with Marcos, walking the dogs (in all types of weather), making sure her mother’s hair was always perfect, spending evenings with her mother and the dogs, and praying the Rosary.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, George Estep, and her husband, Marcos Zabala.
Mary Ann is survived and remembered with love by her mother, Virginia Estep; brother Brent Estep (Jean); sister Brenda Krahn (Kenny); and her nieces and nephews.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Gooding. A memorial service will immediately follow at the church.  Private inurnment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Gooding at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Gooding.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service-Gooding Chapel.
Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the obituary link at www.demarayfuneralservice.com.
