Art Briefs

Call to artists for studio tour
Working artists are invited to submit an application for participation in a fall studio tour dedicated to showcase the creative community in the Wood River Valley.
The deadline for a postmarked application is May 31.
Wood River Valley Studio Tour Inc. is an Idaho nonprofit organization aimed at inspiring regional and out-of-state vistiors to travel to the valley to experience first-hand the quality of locally produced art. Brooke Bonner, director and co-owner of Green Antelope Gallery in Bellevue, and Suzanne Hazlett, of Sazu Studio, collaborated to start the tour in fall 2012.
Applicants must maintain a working art studio in the Wood River Valley and those artists who are accepted are expected to have completed a body of work representing a cohesive, visual art form, with professional execution. These forms include ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video and filmmaking.
The registration fee is $100 by or before the deadline. Extended registration is June 1-21 and the fee will then be $150. Any artist who secures a corporate or individual sponsor donation for $500 or more can request sponsor information packets.
For more information and applications, visit www.wrvstudiotour.org or call 725-0600.

Artists going for big money
Three Wood River artists are competing for a chance at $10,000 in the third annual Art & Soul of the Magic Valley public-voting art contest. The event in Twin Falls runs through May 4. Nearly 150 artists are competing for the opportunity to win a combined $30,000. Fourteen additional winners will receive a total of $20,000.
Winners will be determined by a public vote taken through May 4. Ballots are cast at the Art & Soul voting headquarters, located in the Lynwood Shopping Center. The voting headquarters is open Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting will end at 2 p.m. on May 4.
Competing from Hailey is Ginny Blakeslee Breen, from Ketchum is Tom Prater and from Sun Valley is Jorunn Kristiansen Coe.
