Tennis teams look forward to districts

Comm. School and WRHS

High school tennis is moving quickly toward May’s state-qualifying district tournaments. Players from the Community School and Wood River High School got in some more swings at meets this week.

The Community School won 10 matches Tuesday in a non-conference meet with 4A Canyon Ridge from Twin Falls at Sun Valley Tennis Club.

Meanwhile, the Wood River High School tennis team defaulted two girls’ singles matches and its No. 2 girls’ doubles match Tuesday, but gained a 6-6 Great Basin Conference tie with host Burley. The Wolverine boys won 4-2.

Wood River had beaten Burley 11-1 with a full squad April 9 on the Hailey courts.

Coming up: The Community School hosts Gooding and Sugar-Salem for district matches today, Friday starting at 12 noon at Sun Valley Tennis club. And Wood River is off to the Capital Invitational tournament in Boise today.
