What’s In That Shell?

Miles Teitge and his 4-year-old son, Edyn, examine a hermit crab and the gastropod shell it lives in during the Sawtooth Botanical Garden’s 11th annual Bug Zoo educational event. More than 200 people visited the nonprofit garden on Sunday to see a variety of crawling creatures. “This year the Bug Zoo explored nature’s four elements, which are earth, air, fire and water, and we put bugs and critters into the classifications based on their habitats,” said Executive Director Stephanie McCord. Some of the favorite exhibits were the butterfly tent, the desert millipedes, the leopard gecko and the newts, she said.
