Whisper starts to shout

Bellevue band heads out on regional tour

    This time last year, the band that is Old Death Whisper were bidding a brief farewell to their fans with a live album recording session at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Bellevue.
   Old Death Whisper will hit the highways and back roads of the Northwest and Canada this spring, honing their soon-to-be released first full-length record, which has been in the works since the blowout in Bellevue.
   In a news release about their latest effort, the band reports having been comfortable in its relative obscurity for the past three years, “the rattle of bones, the pounding of thunder, the echo of guitars and banjo” bringing an explosion of new material.
   “The band is feverishly working to spread its wings, sharpen its talons and hone in on what will be their 21-gun salute to a music that is steeped in the roots of the West, the smoke, whiskey and neon of America’s dive bars, and the never-ending roads that tie us all together.”
   Old Death Whisper will kick off the tour at Whiskey Jacques’ in Ketchum on Friday April 26, at 9 p.m., with Boise bluegrass artist Reilly Coyote to open.
   The schedule then takes them around the region and to Canada, ending with a house party in Salmon on May 12.
