Girl Scouts plant sprouts of grace

    Last month at the end of the first day of spring, a young girl handed me the most beautiful daffodil that was a day shy of blooming. I said thank you and asked why I was getting this wonderful surprise. She explained that she had been given the flower when she visited her dentist that day, from the Girl Scouts.
   I was touched by this random act of kindness and was completely caught off guard. What was equally incredible about this project was that it planted the seed in our community members to pass on the giving. This young girl decided to re-create the moment when she received the gift by giving it away, rather than keeping the golden flower for herself. Despite age or status, it was as though we were all part of the Scouts last Wednesday, and the flowers, which were on the brink of opening up, opened up all of our hearts.
   Thank you, Girl Scouts, for reminding our community to take care of one another!
