WRHS, Camas athletes compete at Buhl track

Thursday meet


     Wood River High School and Camas County track and field athletes competed on a breezy 50-degree Thursday at the Buhl Rotary Invitational meet that attracted 16 schools to the Buhl Community track.

     Hailey senior Ian Keys won the 100-meter dash by a healthy .38-second margin with a final time of 11.12 seconds. Senior Chase England gave the Wolverines a third place in the 1600m run with a 5.00:07 time. England was fourth in the 3200m at 10.48:25.

     Junior Haley Montgomery placed third in the 3200m finals at 12.28:18 to lead the Wolverine girls at Buhl. Freshman Sara Lichtenberg was second in high jump at 5-2. She added a seventh in 200m dash at 28.19.

     Wood River’s boys ended up with 29 team points for 10th place of 16 schools Thursday. The Hailey girls had 22 points for 11th place of 14 girls’ teams.

     Coach J.C. Nemecek said, “The teams had good performances and 18 personal records were set.”

     Camas County senior Stephanie Moore accounted for the lion’s share of Fairfield’s 19 team points by finishing second in the long jump (16-2.5) and fifth in the triple jump (31-2). Musher senior Colton Rasmussen placed fourth in triple jump (37-4) for the Fairfield boys.

     Buhl captured the Rotary boys’ team title with 126.5 points over second-place Jerome (115.5). Jerome gained the girls’ team honor with 134. Spring Creek (Nev.) had 105.

     200m: 7—Sara Lichtenberg (WR) 28.19 (PR).

     3200m: 3—Haley Montgomery (WR) 12:28.18.

     300m intermediate hurdles: 8—Brittany Hulme (CC) 56.73.

     4x100m relay: 5—Wood River (Bailey Rierden, Lexi Browne, Emilia Bingham, Sara Lichtenberg) 56.13. 4x200m relay: 5—Camas County (Sierra Sabin, Isabelle Ornelas, Felicity Willis, Taylor Gorringe) 2:14.49.

     4x400m relay: 6—Wood River (Hallie MacPherson, Mariah Stout, Haley Montgomery, Janel Passey) 5:08.84.

     High jump: 2—Sara Lichtenberg (WR) 5-2 (PR). Long jump: 2—Stephanie Moore (CC) 16-2.5. 7—Hunter Rasmussen (CC) 13-10. Triple jump: 5—Stephanie Moore (CC) 31-2.

     Other WRHS personal records: Chloe Lichtenberg, Brooke Sundholm and Lexi Browne.

Boys’ results

     100m: 1—Ian Keys (WR) 11.12.

     800m: 6—Alexis Gonzalez (WR) 2:12.54 (PR). 1600m: 3—Chase England (WR) 5:00.07. 3200m: 4—Chase England (WR) 10:48.25.

     4x200m relay: 8—Camas County (Colton Rasmussen, Isaac Simon, Ebie Myles, Davey Knowlton) 1:49.22. Sprint medley relay: 5—Wood River (Ian Keys, Brandon Yagla, Kyle Mungall, Alexis Gonzalez) 4:02.90.

     Discus: 8—Taylor Douthit (WR) 130-6 (PR). Triple jump: 4—Colton Rasmussen (CC) 37-4.

     Other WRHS personal records: Josh King, Nick Bell, Illiah Pfau, Torrin McKenzie and Eddie Mendoza.
