Amy Tamayo of Hailey has been chosen to participate in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX). It is a one-year, federally funded fellowship for study and work in Germany. Tamayo, a Wood River High School graduate, has studied at California’s Santa Clara University. Her career field is Government and Legal with a focus in International Relations.
From more than 600 applicants, Amy was selected as one of 75 participants in the fellowship program. While in Germany, Tamayo will attend a two-month German language course, study at a German university or professional school for four months, and complete a five-month internship with a German company in her career field.
Taryn Wheeler, a Wood River High School Class of 1999 graduate, received her Idaho Architect License April 12. She graduated from the University of Idaho in 2005 with a M.A. in Architecture.
Ashley Boand of Sun Valley, daughter of Suzanne and Blair Boand, was among nine seniors at the University of Oregon in Eugene to recently complete a five-year Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree, with a minor in business.
Ashley is a 2007 graduate of Hailey’s Wood River High School. She was awarded the University of Oregon Dean’s Scholarship upon entering her freshman year.
Stephanie Sloan of Hailey has made the 2012 fall semester Dean’s List (3.4 GPA or above) at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass.
Wood River High School graduate Karel Kaiser of Hailey has enrolled at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mt., where he plans to attend school in fall of 2013. He intends to major in business. He is a son of Paul and Mary Kaiser.
Several Wood River Valley students were 2012 fall graduates of Montana State University during commencement exercises Dec. 15. It was the first time in more than 50 years that the Bozeman university held a fall commencement.
Graduating with honors (3.25-3.69 GPA) were Conor Benson of Bellevue, Kira Gardner of Sun Valley and Casey Bennett of Hailey. Also graduating was Daniel Fierman of Hailey.
Devan Ellison Annan was among 2,983 students making the Dean’s List (3.50 or higher GPA) at the University of Montana in Missoula for the 2012 fall semester. She is getting an Elementary Education degree with a Spanish minor. Devan is the daughter of Dan and Tristan Gralenski of Bellevue, and Andrew and Beth Annan of Flagstaff, Az.
Brita Gaeddert of Hailey spent January studying in Australia through a four-week program of concentrated study offered at Oregon’s Linfield College. The daughter of John and Claudia Gaeddert is a Linfield junior majoring in economics. She took the class “Aboriginal and Environmental Economics of Australia” and went to the country through Linfield’s January term on-site study program.
At college, Gaeddert is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, the Linfield concert choir and Linfield dance team.
Elana King-Nakaoka of Hailey, a member of the Class of 2014, made the winter term honor roll at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass.
Marlow Mizer, a 12th grade student, earned honors for the winter 2013 term at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Mizer of Hailey.
