Sun Valley reorganizes staff
Following a recent notice of resignation by a Sun Valley administration department staff member, the City Council has unanimously approved a slight restructuring of the positions in that department. The reorganization will not result in increased staff size.
After working with the city since January 2012, Administrative Receptionist and Deputy Clerk Julia Kinsey-Lovey will leave the city on June 1 for family reasons.
“I am moving with my husband to New Jersey, to pursue new opportunities,” she said.
Lovey’s position is full time. The department’s fiscal 2013 budget also provides for a part-time finance department assistant. That position has remained empty since September, when then-Finance Department Assistant Angela Walls was promoted to finance manager.
At a council meeting on Thursday, April 4, the council voted to discontinue the administrative receptionist and deputy clerk position and the finance department assistant position. In their stead, the council established a new, full-time position of assistant to the clerk and assistant to the treasurer, and a new part-time position of administrative receptionist.
The council approved a salary range of $38,952 to $55,315 for the assistant to the clerk and assistant to the treasurer position. According to Walls, who is now the finance manager and treasurer, the council has not yet decided on a salary range for the other position.

KB’s restaurant sold to employees
KB’s Mexican restaurant in Hailey was sold recently to the Serva family, a group of five brothers who have worked at the restaurant for six years.
Brian Kriesien, the founder of KB’s in Ketchum 16 years ago, said he is moving into real estate sales.
Kriesien operated KB’s restaurants in Ketchum, Hailey, and briefly in Boise. Now, the Hailey Main Street location is the last remaining restaurant.
The Serva family is from Peru. The brothers are Rudolfo, Santos, Xavier, Oswaldo and Angel Serva.
Rudolfo Serva owned Rinconcito Peruano, located in a decommissioned railway car in Ketchum, for two years.

Hailey committee seeks sponsors
The Hailey Memorial Day Ceremony Committee is looking for sponsors for a flyover of the 2013 Hailey Memorial Day ceremony.
Due to budget cuts, the military will be unable to provide a flyover this year. The Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa has said they will provide a flyover of the ceremony using two P-51 vintage aircraft.
A flyover organized by the museum requires a donation to cover fuel and museum costs. The $2,500 donation to the museum is tax-deductible.
The theme this year is “More Than a Name,” with a focus on the Vietnam era. The ceremony will be in honor of Gary Boushele, one of four men born in Blaine County who was killed in action in Vietnam.
Contact Maggie Springer for more information at 309-1959.

DEQ seeks input on Quigley Creek
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is seeking public comment on proposed plans to address elevated temperatures in Quigley Creek east of Hailey.
Temperature is a key factor in the health of fish and other cold-water organisms. Recent analyses of water quality data demonstrated that temperatures exceed water quality standards in Quigley and Rock creeks due to excess solar loading from a lack of shade.
The DEQ’s Big Wood River Tributaries Temperature Total Maximum Daily Loads Addendum proposes to establish Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) to reduce warming in the two creeks and restore them.
The document is available for review at DEQ’s Twin Falls Regional Office and on DEQ’s website http://www.deq.idaho.gov.
Submit written comments by 5 p.m. MDT, Friday, April 19, 2013, on DEQ’s website or by mail or email to: Sue Switzer, DEQ Twin Falls Regional Office, 1363 Fillmore St., Twin Falls, ID 83301.
