A 47-year-old Ketchum man has been sentenced to six days in jail and placed on probation for two years for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Sentencing for Cuc Phuoc Ho was pronounced Monday by Judge Robert J. Elgee in Blaine County 5th District Court. The judge ordered that Ho be allowed work release while incarcerated.
According to Blaine County court records, Ho was convicted of felony possession of cocaine in 2004.
The new charge against him arose on May 17, 2012, in Sun Valley Village.
“We were called by Sun Valley security to assist at the Moritz dormitory,” Interim Sun Valley Police Chief Walt Femling said Monday. “Two handguns were found and Sun Valley Company has a policy where there are no weapons allowed on Sun Valley property. We went there and when we ran Mr. Ho we found that he was a convicted felon.”
Ho was not arrested at the time but was instead issued a felony summons informing him of the charge against him. He pleaded guilty to the crime in February.
