Antenna work proposed for Dollar Mountain

City seeking public comment on projects

The city of Sun Valley is taking public comments on three proposed minor development projects before the Planning and Zoning Commission.

One is an upgrade to a wireless communication tower near the top of Dollar Mountain. The application was submitted by Powder River Development and Sun Valley Co., the property owner, to replace an antenna and improve other equipment. The tower in question is the smaller of two communication towers on Dollar, near the ski hill’s mechanical building, not at the top. According to Mark Hofman, the city’s community development director, the upgrade will not be noticeable “whatsoever” from the base of the hill as the new antenna will be about the same size.

The Sun Valley Elkhorn Association has applied to make changes to Patty Rosewater Park, located near the Harker Center in Elkhorn. According to a recent city news release, the changes would include installing a bocce ball court and a removable shuffleboard court, refinishing the park’s basketball court, modifying the perimeter fence and improving the landscaping.

The comment period for both those projects will remain open through Monday, April 22. People interested in submitting an oral or written comment should contact Hofman at 622-4438 or mhofman@svidaho.org.

The Sun Valley Water and Sewer District has applied to build a new water pump station near the intersection of Elkhorn Road and Weyyakin Drive, directly north of Lane Ranch. The district has also proposed that the city rezone the lot on which the project would be developed from Outdoor Recreational to Public/Institution. The Thursday, April 25, P&Z meeting will begin with a site visit to the lot at 9 a.m.

The release states that the comment period for that project will remain open until the site visit, at which members of the public will be able to comment.
