Galena Lodge closes with Winter Triathlon

Seven inches of new snow greeted over 30 participants Sunday, April 7 for Galena Lodge’s Ride, Stride and Glide Winter Triathlon that closed the winter season at Galena 23 miles north of Ketchum.

Solo Men’s first-place finisher David Vanderpool was the overall winner of the 12th annual multi-sport race that featured a 9-kilometer mountain bike ride, 4.4k run and 9k Nordic ski leg.

Brooke Hovey was the Solo Women’s winner. Dave Harrison and Jeff Roth comprised the first-place team. Fisher Gardner, Sebi Jones and Zane Lyon were on the first-place Kids’ Team at Galena.

 

WRHS cheerleading clinics and tryouts this week

Wood River High School has scheduled its cheer tryouts for Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. in the upper right-side gym of the Hailey school. Clinics will be held there Wednesday through Friday, April 10-12 from 4-5 p.m. Bring workout clothes and water. Contact Amber 720-1562 or Shanniece 721-2189.

 

High school rodeo debuts at Glenns Ferry

The 5th District High School rodeo season opens Friday and Saturday, April 12-13 with events at Glenns Ferry. Wood River and Carey cowboys and cowgirls are competing.

Other district rodeos are April 19-20 at Gooding, April 26-27 at Shoshone, May 3-4 at Hailey Rodeo Arena, May 10-11 at Blaine County Fairgrounds in Carey and May 24-25 at Shoshone for district finals. State rodeo is June 10-15 at Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello.

 

Baseball, softball players clean up S.H. 75 on Saturday

To raise money for their registration fees and to support program costs, Wood River Middle School baseball and softball players will be cleaning both sides of a 10-mile stretch of S.H. 75 between Hailey and Ketchum on the morning of Saturday, April 13. People who wish to contribute can do so with a flat donation or through a per-mile system. For more details, contact Lars Hovey 721-1948 or sign up with the youth player you know.

 

Camp Rainbow Gold benefit golf is April 27

The eighth annual Camp Rainbow Gold fund-raising golf tournament has been scheduled for Saturday, April 27 with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Club 93 Golf Ranch in Jerome. Call Doug D’Andrea at 720-5812 for details and registration.
