Snow Bowl bumps wrap up freestyle season

Solid season for freeskiers

One of the best freestyle skiing seasons in memory for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation squads has come to an end, leaving memories of a great 2012-13 winter campaign.

SVSEF racers competed in the Snow Bowl Spring Break Fiesta freestyle competition at Snow Bowl, Mt. last weekend. It was the final freestyle event.

Program director Andy Ware said, “SVSEF freestyle athletes took home more overall mogul and dual mogul titles this season than ever before.

“I am extremely proud of our coaches and athletes for working so hard all season long. Many athletes have competed in 10 events this season.”

At Snow Bowl, Morgan Shaver was the top F1 (ages 17-18) in Saturday’s moguls, and then placed second overall in moguls and second in dual moguls Sunday.

Over at Copper Mountain, Co. Sunday, freeskiing athlete Trevor Hattabaugh placed sixth in the Men’s Open class skier halfpipe at the USASA National Championships.

Ware said, “Trevor had two top-10 finishes in three weeks—at the Rev Tour finals and now at national championships. He has really stepped it up at the end of the season and established himself among the best up-and-coming halfpipe skiers in the country.”

Monday, Will Griffith competed at the USASA national finals in the 11-12 year-old class in HP and slopestyle. SVSEF placings from Snow Bowl:
