SVSEF Nordic team chooses its top skiers

Announced at Monday’s awards

Program Director/head Comp Team coach Rick Kapala and head Prep Team coach Kelley Sinnott said they were pleased with the turnout for Monday’s season-ending awards ceremony at Elkhorn Supper Club for the older skiers in the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s cross-country ski program.

Selected as the Outstanding Skiers for the Comp Team girls were Laurel Fiddler and Maggie Williams.

Together with McCall’s Annika Miller, Fiddler and Williams were the other skiers on the Intermountain Division’s 3x3.3-kilometer J1 (ages 16-17) gold medalist relay team during the USSA Marriott Junior National cross-country ski competition March 12 at Birch Hill in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Comp Team Outstanding Skier for the boys was Zach Williams, who placed eighth in the J2 (ages 14-15) classic 5k mass start race March 16 to wrap up the Junior Nationals week in Alaska. Other awards:

- SVSEF Comp Team—Engl Awards: Jake Adicoff, Ketchum Wilt and Maranda Stopol. Most Inspirational: Jake Adicoff and Maggie Williams. Most Improved: Tom Gillespie and Grace Gorham. Coaches Award: Carter Ros and Cheyanne Stopol. The Nardo Winner: Andrew Graves.

- Prep Team—Outstanding Skiers: Cooper Roquet and Ella Wolter. Most Inspirational (voted by team): Jorgen Lawrence and Ella Wolter. Most Improved: Johnny Hagenbuch, Katherine Estep and Madeline Austin. Coaches Award: Keene Morawitz and Ellie Gorham.
