David selected to head drug coalition

Basolo to remain as grant coordinator

Michael David

Ketchum City Councilman Michael David has been selected as the Blaine County Community Drug Coalition’s new executive director.

David replaces Terry Basolo, who is now pursuing a post-graduate degree but will continue to serve as the organization’s Drug Free Communities grant coordinator.

Jay Hedrick, who served as interim executive director during the transition from Basolo to David, will remain with the organization as program director for the local chapter of Idaho Drug Free Youth.

In addition to serving on the Ketchum City Council, David serves on the boards of Mountain Rides Transportation Authority, the Ketchum Urban Renewal Agency and the Ketchum Community Development Corp.

He worked as general manager of The Valley Club from 1997 to 2002 and as executive director of the Blaine County Housing Authority and the Valley Adams Regional Housing Authority in McCall, Idaho, from 2002 to 2012. He was also employed by the Blaine County School District and the Community School as a substitute teacher from 2010 to 2012.

David graduated from U.C.L.A. with a B.A. in psychology and earned a J.D. from Loyola Marymount Law School.

“I am extremely excited about maintaining and strengthening the partnerships created by Terry and the board of directors,” David stated in a press release concerning his new job. “We have a talented group of volunteer directors, passionate about the coalition’s mission to reduce substance use by the youth in our community.”
