Play ball! Sign up for BCRD leagues

Youth programs for kids

The fields are ready and spring has come. A good sign is that the Blaine County Recreation District has announced details and scheduled sign-ups for its 2013 Youth Baseball, Softball and T-Ball programs.

Programs include Coed T-Ball for boys and girls ages 5-6 (season starting May 13), machine pitch baseball for ages 7-8 (season starting May 1) player pitch baseball for ages 9-12 (season starting April 15) and youth softball for girls ages 7-11 (season starting April 30).

You can register online now and avoid late fees by signing up early. Visit bcrd.org for more details and registration.

( Optional pitching clinics: For boys ages 8-12 are planned for Wednesday, April 3 and Monday, April 8, from 6:15-7:15 p.m. at Hailey’s Founders Field. They are led by Wood River High School baseball coaches and players. Cost is $25. All proceeds benefit WRHS baseball.

( Sponsorships: BCRD Sports and Leagues coordinator Brad Musbach (578-5458) wants to sign up your business for a team sponsorship to make sure the baseball and softball program maintains its equipment and facilities, and also to help make sure each child has a chance to play.

A business pays $350 and gets its name on a team’s jerseys, and its name and logo on the BCRA home page and field signage. Your business also receives a team photo and plaque to hang up in the proper place. Email Musbach at HYPERLINK "mailto:bmusbach@bcrd.org" bmusbach@bcrd.org.

Program organizers do their best to accommodate your schedule and coach preferences. Be sure to put those requests in the “Comments” section when you register.
