It occurs to me

By CHRIS MILLSPAUGH

Something is going haywire in North Korea. It now states that the armistice suspending the Korean War in 1953 has been declared invalid. They also have threatened to launch a preemptive strike on Washington, D.C., as the U.S. steps up sanctions against them. What in the wide, wide world of sports did Dennis Rodman say to Kim Jong Un on their last visit together? And, what’s the deal on “The Worm” having the same maiden name as the former U.S. secretary of state? Conspiracy theorists are going wild in the library.

Space debris left over from a Chinese 2007 FY-1C satellite seems to have hit a Russian satellite a few weeks ago. I suggest that Wood River Valley residents raise their eyes to the skies this week. Does this affect global warming? Well, we could hit 60 degrees this weekend. How about that?

Maybe all this “doom and gloom” news promoted by the media is just an example of a slow news week. Maybe it’s all true. All I’m trying to do is survive another week in Idaho, currently ranked No. 47 in education in the United States. Perhaps I should stay off the Internet for a while. Life used to be simpler back in the 1970s in Blaine County.

My biggest worries back then were getting a ticket for the Pablo Cruise concert, the disappearance of Sam Sullivan, editor and publisher of the rival Ketchum Tomorrow, and what time après ski started. I was much happier then. It occurs to me that Dennis and Hillary Rodman weren’t cluttering up my mind.

Nice talking to you.
