Joyce Arrien


Joyce Arrien was born in Carey, Idaho, on June 22, 1933. She died in Burns, Ore., on March 8, 2013. Joyce was the daughter of Owen Lavar and Nellie Justesen. She grew up in

Carey. After graduating from Carey High School, she attended St. Luke’s Nursing School in Boise, Idaho. She worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in Hailey, Idaho, and Provo, Utah, until she retired in 1993. She moved to Hines, Ore., in 2006 so she could be close to her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Joyce was married to Louie J. Arrien and together they raised two boys and ran a successful business in Carey.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Nellie Justesen; her husband of 26 years, Louie J. Arrien; and three brothers, Dallas, Ray and Keith.

She is survived by her sister, Wilma Ross; two sons, Kirby J. Arrien and Kory L. (Shalah) Arrien; and grandchildren, Kimberly, Kourtnee, Brittany and Tommy.

She will be buried next to her husband and parents at a graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the Carey Cemetery.
