This year’s Kindercup on Sunday, March 10, at Dollar Mountain will be dedicated to beloved ski instructor and Papoose Club member Alice Schernthanner.
In her spirit, the Papoose Club invites everyone to dress up in their finest or funniest hillside costumes for the race.
This is the 57th annual Papoose Club Kindercup race, an event which Schernthanner was an integral part of for decades, combining her love of children and skiing. She spent 25 years with the Sun Valley Ski School as both instructor and Children’s Program supervisor.
This free race is open to all nonsanctioned racers ages 3-12, on skis or snowboards. Races will begin at 10:15 a.m. preceded by check-in and bib pickup. Please check in even if you have pre-registered starting at 8:30 a.m.; it will go more quickly if participants pre-register.
The awards ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Pre-registration is available at Sturtevants, Atkinson Park, Formula Sports and Dollar Mountain.
This is a fun community event and it takes a lot of participation. To volunteer, contact Louise Issacs at 720-5931.
Founded in 1954, the primary purpose of the Papoose Club is to promote educational, cultural and athletic growth for the children of the Wood River Valley. For more information about Papoose Club’s upcoming events or to make a tax-deductible contribution, visit www.papooseclub.org.
