Holiday sends alpine teams on the road

For races in Boise, Wyoming


Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation alpine racers spent Presidents’ Day weekend at Boise’s Bogus Basin Ski Area and Jackson Hole’s Snow King Resort and came away with a bunch of podium efforts.

 

Trudi Bolinder races at Bogus

Twenty SVSEF boys in the U-21, U-18 and U-16 classes were in the 93-racer field for the Trudi Bolinder men’s super giant slalom races Saturday and Sunday on Paradise run at Bogus Basin.

Sun Valley had an overall podium finisher in each of three SG races—U-18 winner Parker Scott with third and second places in the first two races, and U-18 runner-up William Harder fourth and third.

On Monday, Parker Scott capped his excellent series of races by placing second of 67 two-run finishers in the Bolinder giant slalom. Scott won the U-18 class, and U-18 Ben Kanellitsas was fourth overall in GS.

Cooper Dart wins Snow King GS

SVSEF U-14 racer Cooper Dart was on fire Saturday morning with consistent back-to-back giant slalom runs to place first among 83 starters in the Sean Nurse Memorial GS at Snow King Resort. Dart won by 1.07 seconds to lead nine SVSEF boys in the event on Elk Run.

The three-day race series also included two slaloms on Cougar Run, and SVSEF racer Katelyn Rathfon podiumed in both with third places in a field of 107 girls from Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. There were 11 SVSEF girls in the mix, Sage Rheinschild rising as high as fifth in slalom.
