Jackson Hole hosts riders for Big West races

Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Snowboard Gold Team racers Chase Josey and Kaitlyn Farrington are in Sochi, Russia this week where Olympic test events are being staged at the 2014 Winter Olympic “Rosa Khutor” event area pictured here. USASA Big Mountain West racing was staged at Jackson Hole, Wyo. last weekend, and Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Snowboard Team riders did some solid riding.

SVSEF coach Andy Gilbert said, “It was an awesome weekend. We had podiums and breakthroughs every day. The kids all rode great and the Tutu Crew (the girls on the team wear tutus) was out in force.

“Phebe Ericksen had a breakout weekend. She was just charging. And Payton Bacca had a really good day in the pipe.” Here are SVSEF class placings, by race and day:

( In other news: Ryan Roemer, 17, of the SVSEF Snowboard Team was 14th in the men’s pro class of the recent Mt. Baker Banked Slalom. Hailey’s Graham Watanabe was second to two-time Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott, Yancy Caldwell 38th, and Spencer Cordovano second in older amateur class.
