Busby, Cutler lead SVSEF girls at Brundage

It was a banner weekend for many of the 13 Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation female alpine racers competing Saturday through Monday in U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association FIS super giant slalom and giant slalom races at Brundage Mountain near McCall.

U-16 (ages 14-15) racers Samantha Busby and Haley Cutler earned their share of the spotlight on the McCall Ski Racing Team’s podium.

Busby won the Brendan Armstrong Memorial SG Saturday by .01 seconds over Cutler in a field of 60. Cutler was third overall in each of the two SGs staged Sunday on Sidewinder/Alpine run. In Monday’s giant slalom Busby placed fifth, third among U16s, and Cutler was sixth.

The following are best class placings for the 13 SVSEF racers in the Brundage Mountain super giant slaloms and the GS:

( U-16 girls: 1—Samantha Busby (1-6-6 overall) and 3-GS (5th overall). 2—Haley Cutler (2-3-3 overall) and 4-GS (6th overall). 16—Madison Milgard and 11-GS. 18—Alexandra Black (16-GS) and Josie Allison (22-GS). 19—Royce Rheinschild (17-GS. 25—Olivia Wentzell (27-GS). 28—Poppy Ellie Vorse (28-GS). 33—Margot Griffith (29-GS). 41—Carolina Mahedy.

( U-18 girls: 3—Jenna Lou Jansky (9-8-14 overall) and 3-GS (8th overall). 5—Linnea Tenerz (7-GS).

( U-21 girls: 3—Taylor Gilliam (2-GS).
