Idaho State Police are blaming heavy fog for a series of accidents Wednesday morning on Interstate 84 east of Boise. In one accident, a 50-year-old Hailey woman was injured when she crashed into the rear end of a Boise Fire Department fire truck that was parked and attending to another accident.
ISP identified the woman as Gwen V. Thompson. She was taken to a Boise hospital by ground ambulance. Her condition was not mentioned in an ISP news release, nor was it available by press deadline Thursday from St. Luke’s Medical Center in Boise.
ISP reported that the accident involving Thompson occurred shortly after 8 a.m. near the Black’s Creek rest area. After ramming the rear of the fire truck, Thompson’s 2000 Subaru Impreza vehicle careened into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by Shawn R. Rebholz, 44, of Boise, ISP reported.
ISP reported that the westbound traffic lanes were blocked for about two hours following the accident.
