Leif’s Combined racing is Saturday

Remembering Leif Odmark

Want some variety in your skiing on Saturday, Feb. 9?

Try the Sun Valley Ski Club’s Leif’s Combined race that features a 5-kilometer cross-country ski race (skate or classic) at 10 a.m. at Sun Valley Nordic Center followed by one giant slalom heat down Baldy’s Cozy ski run at 1:30 p.m.

Participants can race the GS on skis, tele skis or snowboard.

Sun Valley Ski Club director Taylor Paslay said the club wants to have families and children participate. Non-racers and recreational skiers are encouraged to join the fun.

Pick up bibs from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Sun Valley Nordic/Clubhouse. Race bibs serve as lift tickets for Greyhawk lift, and are also SV Nordic passes.

Advance fee before Friday at 12 noon is $20 for ski club members and $30 for non-members. Day-of-race fee is $35. If you were born after 1995, your cost is only $20. Sign up beforehand at Warm Springs Race Desk or SV Nordic.

Last February, 71 skiers turned out for the revival of the Sun Valley Ski Club’s Leif’s Combined Race on Baldy and at Sun Valley Nordic Center. The Valentine’s Week event is held in memory of Sun Valley Nordic ski legend Leif Odmark.
