Around Town

Fun at ‘Girlfriend’s Cabaret Luncheon’
St. Thomas Playhouse is inviting all women to an annual fundraising event at the Elkhorn Springs Restaurant on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The theme is “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” in honor of the musical “My Fair Lady,” which will be presented in October. All funds from this event will go toward supporting performing arts programs, camps, scholarships and productions.
Attendees will be greeted with champagne and appetizers before being served a gourmet three-course lunch catered and designed by Chef Laura Apshaga. Wine will be served throughout the event. Actors of all ages from recent St. Thomas Playhouse musical shows will perform songs as entertainment.
There will be four raffle packages and silent and live auction items. For reservations or more information, call Cherie at 726-5349.

‘Crossing Cultures’ at The Center’s Family Day
Families are invited to tour the exhibition “Crossing Cultures” at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Ketchum, and then create family flags and albums that illustrate their own unique family story.
“Crossing Cultures” looks at images and symbols traditionally associated with certain cultures—like pagodas, cowboys, piñatas  and Native American designs and forms—and shows how artists have used such images in their art to question and broaden traditional categories of race, culture and ethnicity.
Center staff will lead tours at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 9. Many activities require adults to be hands-on helpers to their children. No advance registration is necessary.
The current exhibit will be on view through Feb. 23. For information about all tours, lectures and other programs related to the exhibition, visit www.sunvalleycenter.org.

Papoose Club’s free ski races for kids!
The Croy Nordic Cup will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, at the new Croy Nordic facility just west of Hailey. This event for young cross-country skiers ages 3-13 features ski races in both skate and classic disciplines. Registration will be held from 10-10:30 a.m. on the day of the event, and the racing action will begin at 11 a.m.
Kindercup downhill ski and snowboard races will be held Sunday, March 10, at Dollar Mountain. The races are open to kids 3-12. Registration information will be available at www.papooseclub.org in mid-February.
For more information about Papoose Club’s upcoming ski races or to volunteer at one of the events, visit www.papooseclub.org or call 726-6642.
