SV Auto Club takes down Morgan’s 5-3

Senior “A” Hockey action

The Senior “A” Hockey League standings tightened up Tuesday when SV Auto Club/Grumpy’s (5-4-0) knocked off league-leading Morgan’s Fine Finishes (6-3-0) by a score of 5-3 at Sun Valley Skating Center.

Goals by Vilnis Nikolaisons (2), Frank Salvoni, Harry Weekes and Ryan Kolquist staked SV Auto Club to leads of 4-2 and 4-3. Adding assists for the winners were Salvoni, Rian Timmons, Brad Stansberry, Bryan Speth and Dave Hennessy.

Lighting the light for Morgan’s were Dave Patrie, John Ellison Jr. and Chad Levitan (2 assists).

In Tuesday’s other league game, Tate Mills tallied a three-goal hat trick including an empty-netter leading Yoga College (5-4-0) into a second-place tie by a 3-1 score over Lefty’s Bar & Grill (2-7-0).

Shaun and Matt Mahoney added assists for Yoga College. Don Saver scored the Lefty’s goal, assisted by Christ Cook.

The league played two games Thursday night because the indoor rink will be closed most of next week because of a resort convention. Morgan’s skated against Lefty’s, and Grumpy’s played Yoga College.

Action picks up again Tuesday, Feb. 12 with SV Auto Club/Grumpy’s playing Lefty’s at 8 p.m. and Morgan’s lining up against Yoga College at 9:10 p.m. The Gund Cup league playoffs start Feb. 26.
