Joseph Bodhi Wiederrick

Joseph Bodhi Wiederrick was born on Aug. 9, 1994, in Hailey, Idaho. He graduated from Wood River High School in the spring of 2012. Our wonderful and much-loved son, after a long effort to stay alive, succumbed to hypothermia in the early hours of Jan. 20, 2013, near Moscow, Idaho. Joe was an amazing human being. He had an incredibly kind heart. He was smiling, funny and full of his unique style of humor that always had us laughing. He was and always will be a bright, shining light in our lives.
Joe was an extraordinary young man. He was attending the University of Idaho and he made the dean’s list in his first semester. He planned to become an architect and he had the perfect combination of desire, intelligence and artistic talent to do just that.
Joe loved the mountains. He loved long-boarding, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, camping, kayaking, boating, target shooting and archery. He also loved video games and good movies. Joe loved hanging out with his family and also with his good buddies: too many to mention by name but you all know who you are. The outpouring of love for our son, especially since this tragedy, warms our hearts and comforts our souls.
Joe is survived by his heartbroken and loving family: his parents, Robert (Bob) and Michelle Wiederrick, and his sister/friend, Ana Wiederrick, from Hailey, Idaho—he’ll be in our hearts forever; his loving grandparents, Grant and Carol Havemann, and Bob and Alberta Wiederrick, from Salmon, Idaho; his great-grandma, Mary Daniels; his aunt and uncle, Cami and Mike Ernest, and his aunt, Lori Wiederrick, all from Salmon, Idaho; his cousin Steph Slavin from Boise, Idaho;  his cousin Jennifer and her husband, Jake Zollinger, from Challis, Idaho, and their children, Cayden, Callyn and Cyzer; his uncle and aunt Jim and Karma Wiederrick and their children, Devin and Jasmine, from Pocatello, Idaho; and his cousins April, Lance, Whitney, Ethan and Steven.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Joseph Wiederrick Memorial Fund at any US Bank branch. The proceeds will benefit future Wood River High School art and architecture students. Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Hailey, Idaho, Community Campus Performing Arts Theatre (just south of the Wood River High School). Reception to follow.
