Ski Club Reunion Week starts Sunday

Social events, skiing and more

It’s been happening exactly the same number of years as the famed Super Bowl.

Coincidentally, the 47th annual Sun Valley Ski Club Reunion Week will share the same starting date in 2013 as the playing of football’s Super Bowl between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.

Ski Club Reunion Week begins Sunday, Feb. 3 with the welcome reception from 6:30-9 p.m. at Sun Valley Clubhouse.

Monday’s social event after a good day of skiing is the Austrian Night Party/Buffet from 6:30-9 p.m. at Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge.

Returning Tuesday, Feb. 5 is the Robert and Rosemary Bradford Memorial giant slalom on Baldy. Register starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Warm Springs Lodge. The Bradford Cup is part of the Baldy Cup series.

Later Tuesday, the club’s annual meeting and après ski party will be conducted from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the Sun Valley Inn’s Limelight Salon C.

Next Wednesday at 11 a.m., the Barbara Tollerup Memorial cross-country tour/lunch at Sun Valley Clubhouse will be hosted again by Harold Tollerup. It’s limited to ski club members, and to only 30 skiers.

The club’s annual dinner dance is Thursday, Feb. 7 from 6:30-10 p.m. at Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge, then you can ski with the club president and have lunch at Lookout atop Baldy Friday, Feb. 8.

The seven-day Reunion Week concludes Saturday, Feb. 9 with the revival of Leif’s Combined Race held in memory of Sun Valley cross-country ski legend Leif Odmark.

Leif’s Combined puts together alpine ski racing on Baldy with cross-country skiing at Sun Valley Nordic. The race began in 1992 but lapsed for two years prior to its revival in 2012.
