Bound for glory?

Hellbound Glory stops here before hitting the road with Kid Rock

Courtesy photo Hellbound Glory, from Reno, Nev., has cultivated a large following among outlaw country music lovers.

When the self-proclaimed “scumbag country band” from Reno called Hellbound Glory made a stop in the valley two years ago, local critics predicted it was on its way to proving it is a force to be reckoned with in the country music world.

Now the band, which claims influences from Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, is about to join Kid Rock on a 20-city tour, proving the critics right.

But before the tour begins, Hellbound Glory will perform at the Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey for one night only, Friday, Jan. 25, at 8:30 p.m. There is a $3 cover that night.

The music of Hellbound Glory is described as a fusion of superior songwriting and hard-living characters with a hard-edged country honky-tonk sound.

According to a bio on Gearhead Records website, “The band tours constantly, playing dive bars and honkytonks across the country. Their ‘what-the-hell’ attitude resonates in the many songs about living the hard life of boozing, drugs, broken hearts and thoughts of suicide. The humor inherent in this life-on-the-edge mindset shines through the bleakness with passionate full-throttle delivery.”

Check out the band’s instrumental dexterity and vivacious, down-home, good-ol’-boy attitude while it is still down to earth.
