Put LOT for air service back on ballot

On behalf of Fly Sun Valley Alliance, Citizens for Air Service and the voters in Sun Valley who supported the 1 percent local-option tax for air service by a more than 61 percent vote, I would like to thank the Sun Valley City Council for its recent unanimous decision to keep open the ability to collect the tax should Ketchum voters ultimately pass an essentially identical version.

This past fall, the 1 percent for Air LOT fell just short of the 60 percent required in both Ketchum and Hailey, so we know there is strong valleywide support for improving our air service. Air service continues to be a key to our community’s economic stability and growth, and we are optimistic that the cities of Ketchum and Hailey will place the 1 percent LOT initiative on their ballots next fall so their voters will have another opportunity to pass the measure to bring more flights, more business and more jobs for our valley.
