Baysinger leads SVSEF alpine at Schweitzer

Speed race series


First-year Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Alpine FIS team racer Linnea Baysinger, 17, led 15 older SVSEF racers in the Western Region Speed Series event at Schweitzer Mountain near Sandpoint in northern Idaho.

Baysinger finished in the top four overall among 47 women in four of the five Schweitzer races. She podiumed in her U-18 age class four times, topped by a third-place overall (2nd U-18) in Monday’s downhill.

She comes from North Bend, Wash. and was a top Far West PNSA competitor for the Team Alpental Snoqualmie Ski Foundation before coming to Sun Valley’s program.

Not far behind Baysinger was Sun Valley Ski Academy/Community School sophomore Kyla Miller from Lake Stevens, Wash. She placed third overall (2nd U-18) among 45 starters in Tuesday’s DH.

Class placings for SVSEF in downhill and super giant slalom races staged Monday through Wednesday:

( U-21 boys: Christopher Nalen 10-DH, 8-DH, 12-SG.

( U-21 girls: Amanda Stelling 5-DH, 5-DH, 5-SG; Taylor Gilliam 7-DH, 7-DH, 7-SG.

( U-18 boys: Parker Scott 11-DH, 8-DH, 8-SG; William Harder 7-DH, 10-DH, DNF-SG ; Ben Kanellitsas 19-DH, 23-DH, 26-SG; Payton Anderson 21-DH, 25-DH, 28-SG; Tanner Josey 38-DH, 29-DH, 28-SG; Logan Shipley 31-DH, 46-DH, 44-SG; Garrett Lodge 43-DH, 40-DH, 40-SG.

( U-18 girls: Linnea Baysinger 2-DH, 3-DH, 3-SG; Kyla Miller 4-DH, 2-DH, 12-SG; Jordan Fitzgerald 7-DH, 7-DH, 9-SG; Mackenzie Bachmeier 10-DH, 15-DH, 5-SG; Jenna Lou Jansky 5-DH, 10-DH, 17-SG.
