U-14 girls host home hockey this weekend

Sun Valley Youth Hockey’s U-14 girls’ squad went 2-2 during a series of four games at Idaho Falls last weekend.

The local girls defeated Idaho Falls 5-3 and Idaho Falls White 5-1, then dropped Sunday’s championship game 5-1 to Utah Lightning.

Scorers were Abby Robideaux (3 goals/0 assists), Meg Johnston (2/1), Morgan Benson (2/0, game puck), Becca Schlake of Boise (1/1), Anik Zarkos (1/1), Sydney Roberts (1/1), Evi Johnson (1/0, game puck), Sophie Nasvik (0/1) and Taylor Hebert  (0/1).

Kasey Johnson and Denali Stevens also earned game pucks, and Schlake got the weekend game jersey from coaches Chris Benson, Eddie Grimes and Dale Johnson.

Goalies were Evi Johnson (54 saves) and Roberts (6 saves).

The Sun Valley girls host their six-team home tournament Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 19-20 at Sun Valley Skating Center. Sun Valley’s game times are 10:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and 8:10 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. Sunday.


Midgets skate in Boise

SVYH’s Midget high school hockey team went down to the wire before dropping a 4-3 decision to Borah of Boise on Friday night in Boise league play at Ice World. Borah scored in the final six seconds to win it.

The Sun Valley goals came from Erik Wilander, Liam Jablonski (assist to Gus Conrad) and Gus Conrad (Jablonski).

Sun Valley plays Canyon County Friday, Jan. 18 and goes to Idaho Falls for a tournament this Saturday.
