Skoch Cup part of new Baldy Cup series

Four races this weekend on Baldy

The Sun Valley Ski Club has announced plans for its 16th annual Skoch Cup sponsored by Ketchum’s Formula Sports.

Not only will this weekend’s Skoch Cup consist of four races instead of the usual three, it will kick off the Ski Club’s new 10-race winter series, according to the club’s John Campbell.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) Masters race series on the Warm Springs side of Baldy features two super giant slalom races on Friday, Jan. 18 on Warm Springs, followed by giant slalom Saturday on Hemingway and slalom Sunday on Cozy.

Register online at skiracereg.com or on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Warm Springs Lodge. The event won last year by Tyler Chandler and Lisa Dunsmore is open to all competitors over 18.

The rest of the 2013 Baldy Cup includes these races, all ages welcome. Ski Club members will pay reduced entry fees for some of the races. World Cup points will be awarded to top finishers. Age group winners will receive prizes in the Baldy Cup race, and Cup winners will earn prize money:
