Rotarun looks ahead to Arkoosh Cup

On Sunday, Jan. 20

Hailey’s Rotarun Ski Area welcomed Thursday’s snowfall with an eye to its first big event of the 2013 season. That’s the Arkoosh Cup ski races for kids on Sunday, Jan. 20.

The 47th annual Arkoosh Cup begins Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. on a small but challenging course that will be fun for both beginner and experienced racers.

Awards will be presented to the fastest girl and boy, as well as the top-five girls in boys in each age category—4-and-under, ages 5-6, plus Ski Team and Non-Ski Team divisions for ages 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12.

Kids 7-12 compete on a larger race course. Kids up to age six will race on a shorter course at the hill. Rotarun Ski Club, which operates the ski slope three miles west of Hailey, is a non-profit organization.

Rotarun is open for night skiing Wednesdays and Fridays from 6-9 p.m., plus weekends on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sundays 12-4 p.m.

Daily ticket prices are $15 per person for ages 18-and-up, $10 for ages 6-17 and free for five-and-under when accompanied by an adult/guardian. Season passes are $75 ages 18-and-up, $50 ages 6-178 and $150 for an immediate family pass.
