Gas prices at lowest point since February

Idaho’s average price at pump is $3.23 per gallon

If you’re one of the 84.4 million travelers expected to be on the road for the holidays, you’d better not cry and you’d better not pout—just follow some sound advice to get there safely and with your wallet intact.

AAA Idaho predicts that 452,000 Idahoans will be drivers or passengers in motor vehicles traveling 50 miles or more from home during the holiday period. They will find that gas prices are now as low as they have been since last February.

That’s good news for anyone on a budget, says Idaho’s AAA. But the travel organization says the 1.2 million stranded motorists expected to call for roadside assistance between Dec. 22 and Jan. 2 may face unexpected expenses and aggravation.

Motorists will find lower gas prices within a penny or two of where they were a year ago. Based on AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report, Idaho’s average pump price of $3.23 is as low as it has been since this past February. Idaho’s average price has dropped 40 cents in just the past month. Today’s average U.S. price is $3.22, down 19 cents during the same period.
