The 13th Hailey Ice season will kick off on Christmas Eve at the new Hailey Rodeo Arena, above. The nonprofit organization has moved its rink from nearby Roberta McKercher Park to take advantage of the arena lights. The rink will be open from dawn until 10 p.m. all winter. “We’ve been working on the rink and it’s getting in really good shape,” said Hailey Ice spokeswoman Sarah Benson. Open skating will be offered every day, with free loaner gear, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. during Christmas school holidays. After Jan. 7, open skating will be offered from 2-6 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Hailey Ice will offer skating clinics beginning Jan. 7 for grades K-5. Classes are $35 for five-week sessions, and include “learn to skate,” girls and boys hockey, and beginning and intermediate figure skating for boys and girls. For more information, contact Benson at 720-3086, or sbenson@haileyice.org.
