Rotarun to open Saturday

Ski area near Hailey to commence 65th season

Rotarun ski area west of Hailey offers day and night skiing in a family-friendly environment.

Rotarun ski area will open Saturday, Dec. 22, for its 65th season with a dedication ceremony and free pancake breakfast from 9-11 a.m. 

The day will be celebrated with free lift passes, weather permitting. The celebration will include the dedication of a new information kiosk and flag pole constructed by Rotarun founder Art Richards’ grandson Bradley Richards of Troop 224 of Ammon, Idaho, as his Eagle Scout project. Hailey Mayor Fritz Haemmerle will make a speech and be joined by other members of the Rotarun ski community. 

With more than 400 vertical feet and 30 acres of groomed slopes of beginner terrain, the winter recreation area west of Hailey offers a poma and handle-bar lift. Skiing and snowboarding during the 2012-2013 season will be available on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., as well as on Wednesday and Friday nights from 6-9 p.m. Day ticket pricing is $15 for adults 18 and over, $10 for juniors ages 6-17 and free for children 5 and under. Season passes are $75 for adults, $50 for juniors and $150 for families.
