Around Town

Sing along with Caritas Chorale
The Caritas Chorale will hold its 6th Holiday Sing-Along on the weekend of Dec. 7-8 with donations to help the Hunger Coalition.
The annual event gives children and adults a chance to get together and sing familiar carols and holiday songs with a little help from the Caritas Chorale singers. This year, the men’s chorus “A Few Good Men” and soloist Dawson Howard will perform as well.
The singing will be on Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 201 Sun Valley Rd.
Part of the mission statement of the Caritas Chorale involves “giving back to the community” and the Hunger Coalition is the benefactor; therefore, admission is either a cash donation or a non-perishable food item.
For more information, contact Caritas Chorale Executive Director Linda Bergerson at 726-4846 or lpbergerson@gmail.com.

Footlight Dancers put a little step in seniors’ stockings
Footlight Dancers will be spreading holiday cheer as they bring a performance to the Senior Connection in Hailey and Blaine Manor on Friday, Dec. 7. The dancers will perform at 12:35 p.m. at the Senior Connection and 1:10 p.m. at Blaine Manor.
“Community outreach is an opportunity for our dancers to share their talents and compassion for the arts with as many people as possible,” says director Hilarie Neely. “The students look forward each holiday season to dancing for our community seniors. There will be holiday tap and ballet pieces presented that are sure to get your spirits soaring.”
This year, Alberta Jefferson, senior at Wood River High School, is choreographing the dances for the program as part of her senior project.
Jefferson has choreographed both tap pieces from start to completion, including choosing the music and costumes and rehearsing the dancers. She plans to major in dance next year as she begins her college experience.

Winter drama unfolds at St. Thomas Playhouse
Children ages 4-13 on Christmas school break are invited to sign up for Company B–Winterized, a performing arts day camp sponsored by St. Thomas Playhouse.
The four-day camp will take place from Dec. 26-29 at the church on Sun Valley Road.  The youngest campers, 4-7 years old, will participate from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The rest of the budding thespians will stay all day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be rotations of singing, acting, choreography and group scene work.
The show at week’s end will be “Musical Blast From The Past: The Groovin’ ’60s,” to be presented to the public Saturday, Dec. 29, at 4:15 p.m. To register or for more information, call Sara Gorby at 726-5349 or email sgorby@stthomassunvalley.org.
