Marlene D. Ellinger, 78, of Wadena, Iowa, died Saturday morning, Dec. 1, 2012, at her home.
Marlene Dae Tinsley was born Nov. 20, 1934, at Boise, Idaho, the daughter of William R. and Dora B. (Ross) Tinsley. She graduated from Hailey High School. On Oct. 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Millard L. “Odie” Ellinger at Elko, Nev. Marlene managed Atkinsons’ Market in Hailey until her retirement.
She was a member of the Wadena Community Church, Wadena American Legion Auxiliary, Dam Fools Club-Magic Lake Resort, Idaho, and Wadena Community Betterment Club. Marlene was very active in the annual Wadena Fun Days celebration. She also helped with the Kids Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Party, annual Turkey Supper and many funeral dinners. In her spare time she loved to garden, cook, go fishing and take gambling trips with her friends. The most important thing to Marlene was spending time with her family.
Marlene is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne (Chris) Boehm of Wadena; son, Bill (Shanna) Ellinger of Hailey, Idaho; and two grandchildren, Ashley (Nate) Becker and Justin Boehm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 16, 1995; two sons, Tom and Bob Ellinger; and two brothers, Dick and Donny Tinsley.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Wadena Community Church in Wadena, Iowa, with Pastor Rusty Phillips officiating. Visitation was Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington, Iowa, and on Tuesday at the church. Interment was at the Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, Iowa.
